The Sri Lanka National Arbitration Centre (SLNAC) recently signed a Memorandum of Understanding (MoU) with the Indonesia Dispute Board (Dewan Sengketa Indonesia) to foster greater cooperation in the field of alternative dispute resolution. The purpose of this MoU is to enhance collaboration between the two institutions in promoting alternative dispute resolution (ADR) mechanisms, particularly in the area of arbitration.
Through this partnership, both organizations aim to create a stronger foundation for cross-border dispute resolution, exchange best practices, and provide training and educational opportunities for professionals involved in the ADR process. This agreement also seeks to facilitate the mutual recognition of dispute resolution systems and the sharing of resources to advance the effectiveness of both institutions.
“We are excited about this collaboration with the Indonesia Dispute Board,” said Amali Fernando, Chief Executive of the SLNAC. “This partnership will significantly enhance our capacity to resolve disputes efficiently and effectively, while also supporting the development of ADR practices both in Sri Lanka and Indonesia.”
Chairman of the Indonesia Dispute Board (IDB), Dr. Sabela Gayo , said that this MoU is a strategic step in strengthening the alternative dispute resolution system at the international level.
The MoU represents a step forward in international cooperation for ADR, ensuring that both countries benefit from shared expertise and resulting in the resolution of disputes in a timely and cost-effective manner.
